Patatas Bravas. That is the name of a famous and of one of my favorite tapas. Patatas Bravas means: Spicy potatoes and a “tapa” refers to a small portion of food of any kind of Spanish cuisine. In linguistically speaking English, “tapas” is used like “a la carte” and it is important to know that is not treated as a starter, normally, if you start eating tapas, you finish eating tapas. In Spain, it is a common activity “going for tapas” and, as I do love “Patatas Bravas”, I am inaugurating this section where I am going to evaluate different “Patatas Bravas” and other tapas that I have been able to try before quarantine started.
Albayzin is a bar located in Cornellà del LLobregat (Av. Pablo Picasso, 12) It is placed outside Barcelona center and that is why I am recommending you to go there, because normally in Barcelona it is difficult to find tasty and not-that-expensive tapas due to touristification. This brewery offers good tapas in the purest Andalusian style. Actually, it is important to know that, in summer it is difficult to find a place to eat due to that, I recommend you to call beforehand or, to go earlier that the time you want to start eating, because yes, there are huge lines. Once you get inside, you are going to teleport yourself to Granada, an Andalusian city. All I have tasted is homemade and it seems not being precooked or frozen, which is a good point for the establishment.
Regarding the price, it goes from 3,15€ to 5,10€, in relation of what size you ask for. On the other hand, talking about the potatoes, they gave us a generous portion of crispy (but not that much), small-sized potatoes, for my liking, they were good. In relation to the sauce, this one is very tasty, is called “Albayzin” and it has a very original flavor, spicy but not that much, the typical Brava sauce taste but adapted to the bar style.
Finally, in relation to the bar, the final assessment is a 9. They have a great selection of tapas and fried foods at a good price. Albayzin has a totally recommended service and very friendly staff that they not only think about a transaction of food-money, they also are there to give you an experience.
On the other hand, as we are on quarantine and it is a bit difficult to buy fresh Patatas Bravas here I let you an online site where you are going to find a recipe of “How to do Patatas Bravas”. This recipe comes from Coleen, who owns this blog and post that I am recommending you.
I hope you feel encourage to try this recipe and go to this bar, whenever quarantine finishes and tell me what your experience was like! Tell me down below places you have gone for eating Patatas Bravas, so we can discover new places and tastes!
