WHY TO GET OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE

The comfort zone is defined as the place or area wherever you find yourself super confident of what are you doing and, where you know what is going to happen. Getting out of the comfort zone is a risky activity for some of us and, due to that I want to ask you a question.

Are you looking for getting out of your comfort zone?

If your answer is YES, here you have 3 benefits that getting out of your comfort zone will give you. And if your answer is a NO, here you have 3 reasons why you should try to get out of your comfort zone:

  1. WE WILL PERFORM AT OUR PEAK. Stepping out of our comfort zone, help us to evolve and do not get stuck on the routine due that a little amount of anxiety can help us to perform better. Stepping outside one’s comfort zone is an important, and almost universal, factor in personal growth. Here you can check out what psychologists have found about anxiety and stress.
  2. RISKS HELP US TO GROW. A simple example is how we act when we are kids. When we are kids we are always looking for new things, trying to always learn and we take risks in order to do so. Otherwise, when we get older, we tend to develop a fear of failure, and we start holding ourselves back and do not try new things and this, it has a big cost in our transformation and growth. Due to that, here you have an interesting essay that John Gardner wrote on Brain pickings.
  3. WE WILL BE MORE CREATIVES. It is important to know that, when we take risks we become more creatives due that we open ourselves to be judged and, due to that we have the option of failing but at the same time of challenge ourselves and try new things in order to get new results and, at the end you will be more open to challenges. In relation with this, we can say that you will cultivate the openness trait (intellectual curiosity, emotional interest, …) , one of what’s known in psychology as the “Big Five” personality traits.
