LOCAL LIFE IN – NORWAY

As I have been travelling in Norway to different places as Alta, Hammerfest, Oslo, Tromso and living in Magerøya, where the northernmost point of Europe is located, here I will let you some tips to take into account in case you have the opportunity to visit this point.

  1. FOOD. In case you visit the Island, you have to consider that is not a cheap destination for Spanish travelers and you will say, why? I will tell you. Norway is not a cheap country and, you have to take into account that Magerøya is the northernmost Island of Europe, there are not that many fresh-products and, almost all the food is imported to the place. At the end, if you visit the place, you need a big budget, if not, you can wake up earlier and buy “Tilbuds”, offers in English. Talking about supermarkets in Magerøya Capital, I will recommend you to buy on Rema 1000 or Coop Prix, you are going to find many products there!
  2. ACCOMMODATION. It is important to consider that lodging rental is not going to be that cheap. I will recommend you to start searching online if there’s someone renting a room or apartment for the days you are going to visit the island. On the other hand, in case you are interested, here you have an official Magerøya accommodation site to check it out.
  3. PEOPLE. A curious fact is that people tend to be colder than in other countries, and by cold I mean, less close to you but, they are so kind. Actually I am so grateful for meeting all the people that I had, they always try to help you out because, when I was there, I was able to help travelers around the Island thanks to locals that helped me before.
  4. TOURISM. It is true, that people are going to Magerøya in winter moreover summer is the important season for the Island. Thousands of people arrive by cruises, vans, motorbikes or either bikes in order to reach the northernmost point of Europe, the North Cape. As the Island has its tourism spots as the northernmost point (71’10’21”) or fishing villages and destinations as Honningsvåg, Skarsvåg or Kamøyvær, places that are a must for tourist I will recommend you to not forget to walk, do hikes in Magerøya, feel its earth, lakes, flora and fauna,…, because it is so pure and amazing.

Here I let you a video which I participated on where I was living there. The video was filmed and edited by Cesar Mateu a Finnmark fan that I have had the opportunity to live with. Hope you enjoy the video.

As my next dream is to publish a new post talking about “Local Life in – China” moreover first I will act as a tourist, here I let you an online site where you are going to find “Asia Tourism Information“.
